The below image is from a canine pregnancy scan. Dr. Rossi routinely performs ultrasounds on animals who are pregnant or possibly pregnant. He is able to tell whether an animal is pregnant, and if so, how many fetuses are present. A heartbeat becomes detectable in a canine fetus between 22 to 25 days after ovulation. The ideal time to have an ultrasound is 26 to 28 days after the last breeding. See the Pregnancy Sonogram page for more details.
